Patient Communication Software – which one do I choose?

There are several choices of “big names” when it comes to Patient Communication Software..which one is right for your practice?

All of these Patient Communication software solutions offer at least one-way Practice Management/EHR integration.  Obviously check with each company to see if your specific software/version is supported.  The Patient Communication software pulls information from your patient database and contacts patients based on your criteria/schedule.  Some of the solutions also write the confirmed appointments back into the database, eliminating the need to manually confirm appointments altogether.  It all depends upon the solution you choose and the specific brand/version of Practice Management/EHR software you use.

They all have pros and cons, and unique offerings that separate them from the others.  Let’s break it down a bit:

Patient Activator

The big plus to this option is the price!  On the Patient Activator website, they let you know the fee up front without signing up for a demo or requesting information.  And it’s lower than the other Patient Communication software solutions.  It has a good number of features, and not too many add-ons, so no nickle and dime-ing you for additional features.

SmileReminder (Solutionreach)

It has all the bells and whistles for one price, no add-ons.  The price is not readily available on the Solutionreach website, but they do say that the price you start with is the price you stay at …for life.  They also sync with your Practice Management software several times a day, unlike some that are limited to once.

DemandForce

One of the coolest features of Demandforce is Apple Passbook and GoogleNow Integration.  Your appointment reminders sync effortlessly on patient Apple and Android devices.  They all also mail postcards through “snail mail” (add-on fee) for those non-connected patients.  Demandforce seems to be the most high-tech Patient Communication software solution.

Televox

One thing that Televox does differently is offer custom on hold messaging.  They also offer multiple communication channels: email, text, phone and mailers.  Though, it’s not clear if all the offerings are included or add-on programs.

Lighthouse 360

Lighthouse360 has full Facebook integration.  Schedule appointments, post reviews, office hours and staff bios.  They also sync every 10 min so you are communicating with your patients in nearly real time.  They are also up front on the pricing structure.
