30 days and counting… End of support for Windows XP

Come April 8th, will you be looking at this?

The end of support for Windows XP means no further  security updates or service packs for Windows XP will be released. Microsoft will also not offer Microsoft Security Essentials for download on XP systems.

This means a dim security outlook for XP systems.  For example, Windows XP is 6 times more likely to get infected by malware than other versions.  HIPAA Security Rule section 164.308 states that you should implement “procedures for guarding against, detecting, and reporting malicious software.”  Software companies are dropping support for XP as they release new versions of software. Newer hardware may not work due to lack of driver and/or software support for the products.
